Sea Level Rise meeting TONIGHT
The Boston Harbor Association and Harbor Point Community Task Force are hosting a community meeting tonight, Monday, 29 November, 5:30 p.m., at Harbor Point Club House (a short walk from JFK Library/ UMass MBTA stop) to present possible impacts of climate change and sea level rise on Boston Harbor communities. Come and take a look at specially-prepared maps showing potential impacts of sea level rise to Dorchester. Sandwiches and refreshments will be provided. Community Climate Action Roundtable, Dec. 1st
Join DEHC, BostonCAN, Carl Spector, Executive Director of Boston’s Air Pollution Control Commission, and representatives from East Boston, South Boston, Roxbury, and West Roxbury neighborhood sustainability groups for a roundtable dialogue about community climate action in Boston. This is a rare opportunity to hear about what’s happening in different neighborhoods and join the dialogue about how the city, community groups, and residents can form a more cohesive movement to take Boston to a new frontier in energy and cost savings and citizen participation to fight the effects of climate change. 6-7:30PM at Suffolk University, 73 Tremont Street, 12th floor Trustees’ Conference Room. DotPark4 event, Nov. 10th
DotPark4, the annual not-to-be-missed festive benefit for Dorchester Park, will be held Weds. Nov. 10, from 6PM on at the Ledge Kitchen and Drinks, 2261 Dorchester Ave. Complimentary wine and beer from 6 to 7PM, followed by a full buffet dinner and passed appetizers, auction, DJ and dancing, and great company. Tickets are $65 for the first ticket, $60 for each additional. Free valet parking. Tickets and additional information are available at the group’s website.
Frederick Law Olmsted designed 26-acre Dorchester Park in 1891, and the National Register of Historic Places-listed park is one of Dorchester’s most beautiful public spaces, a well-used venue for public concerts, ball games and community events. Proceeds from the Nov 10th benefit will go to help Dorchester Park Association’s work to maintain the park’s ecosystem, nurturing old plants and rooting out invasive species.

Lights for Bikes – now happening Thurs. Nov. 11
Don’t have lights for your bike? Daylight Savings Time ended Nov 7, making for a darker ride home. On Thursday November 11th, DotBikers will be in several locations along Dorchester Ave. distributing free lights to riders, from about 5:30 pm to 7 pm.
Afterwards, come show off your well-lit self at the Blarney Stone in Field’s Corner at 7 pm, and hear some ideas for opening a bike shop in Dorchester. If you’d like to help hand out lights please email DotBike or call 781-367-9200.
